Buenos Aires, August 26, 2022 – The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship —through the Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency— coordinates Argentine participation in the 47th Apimondia Congress, which takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, August 24-28, 2022.

The Argentine delegation is present at the fair with a 36 m2 National Pavilion and features six companies from the provinces of Buenos Aires, Chaco, Santa Fe, Santiago del Estero and Entre Ríos. This participation reinforces the position acquired by our country abroad and allows companies to generate business contacts and discover market trends.

It should be noted that Argentina is the third global exporter and the fourth producer of honey worldwide. In 2021, Argentine exports of natural honey reached USD 218 million and registered the highest figure in the last 5 years. Moreover, in the first 7 months of 2022, Argentina exported honey for USD 156 million and the largest buyers were the United States, Germany and Spain.

According to data provided by the Argentine Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Argentine beekeeping production is present in 22 provinces —Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, La Rioja, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, San Juan, San Luis, Mendoza, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Chaco, Formosa, Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires, La Pampa, Rio Negro, Neuquén, Chubut and Santa Cruz—, which generates a significant impact on local economies since the producers live close to where their activities take place.

A survey of the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) of April 2021 establishes that the Argentine beekeeping sector has a total of 1,209 honey extraction rooms authorized by SENASA, where a volume greater than 75,000 tons of honey is extracted annually.

So, for the participating companies, attending Apimondia —the exclusive event of the beekeeping sector worldwide— is a great opportunity to make contact with senior managers, qualified buyers and key decision makers from 70 countries and to improve international market position.

The Argentine Investment and Trade Promotion Agency —dependent on the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship— provides technical and economic assistance so that Argentine SMEs can showcase their products and services at the main international fairs, forums and congresses, and establish direct links with global buyers through business round tables.
